In the Beginning…

When was that?

Some religious folks might say that was 6 thousand years ago when a lonely guy got a bright idea to create something to keep him company.

Stephen Hawkins would probably disagree favoring something like 13 billion years ago and the method of creation was more of a big bang. Then again, Prof. Paul Steinhardt (Princeton University) would probably describe it more as a big smash than a big bang between universes that happens over and over again.

Even Seth MacFarlane -creator (see the pun) of the “Family Guy” cartoon- put his two cents in as to how our universe came to be in this (and you should know where this is going) YouTube video.

But they are all wrong.

The best way I can describe it is with this phrase- a Russian Matryoshka doll.  You know…a set of wooden dolls of decreasing size placed one inside the other.

Same thing here. In the “Ant Farm,” I describe an advanced scientific civilization that accidentally creates a parallel universe inside one of their super-sized particle accelerators, one thousand miles wide. And it just so happens, it was our universe that was created.

Crazy eh, well it just so happens we (on this Earth) have several particle accelerators that break things into much small things. There was even some concern that the CERN Large Hadron Collider accelerator in Switzerland might accidentally produce a black hole and ruin our day.

They say that the chances for creating a black hole are small.  But who’s to say what might happen or what we might create- maybe a parallel universe with people who will look upon us as gods?

So comment as you see fit!
