Take The 227 Challenge!

Hey authors!  A while ago, I issued the 77 challenge where you post the first seven lines from the seventh chapter of your book for other authors and readers to review and comment.

The premise was suppose someone goes to the bathroom and while there opens your book. But not at the beginning. They just start reading from any old random place in your book.

Will they get some idea of what your book is about by perusing just a few random lines?

Will they want to read more?

Or will they use the pages for something else having just realized there’s no toilet paper in the stall?

I got a lot of good responses last time, so let’s do it again!

For you authors, here is what you do:

  1. This time, go to the 22nd chapter, scene, paragraph or page of your book or work in progress. It’s your choice depending on the length of your physical book or ebook.
  2. From that point, post the first 7 sentences of your work via reply comment to this post.
  3. And finally (the most important step for this to work for all) is comment on your fellow authors’ work submitted to this post. Let them know if you get the story and if it generates interest to read on.  And remember, be kind!

For you readers, check out the author’s post and feel free to let them know if you get the story and if it generates interest to read on.  And remember, be kind!

To get the process started, here’s the first seven lines from the 22nd chapter/scene of my military SciFi ebook MILK RUN– about a young Captain Toby Nathanael Louis fresh out of space command school on his first mission as captain of the USS Princeton, an old destroyer class spacecraft. But what our hero thought would be an easy first mission turns out to be a test of his ability to lead a crew and ship much older than him against an enemy that is using his own fiancée to destroy him, his ship and his mission. Can our young captain complete his mission and save his fiancée too?

Here you go, and remember, be kind! (Oh yea, I said that already)

Scene 22 v1- The Telrachnids

Thousands, millions, billions! Clearly, a pair of steel balls is required just to enter this narrow emergency access tube and float a few inches above these crawling creatures.

With eight tiny red striped hairy legs, the Telrachnid spiders rapidly engulf Toby like an ant swarm on a loaf of warm bread.  You can’t feel their prickly walk on your back. But they are there. No doubt trying to bite or sting their way through the double walled, Kevlar woven orca spacesuit.  But despite all the sweaty precautions, Toby wonders if everything is tight enough.

OK, now it’s on ya’ll!

As always, thanks to my beta readers and I’m always on the lookout for more MILK RUN reviewers.

Finally, here are some interesting books from fellow authors. Click on the book images to check them out!
